El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) UPSC

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has recently stated that El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) neutral conditions would emerge in June and during July – September, ENSO would transition into La Nina. South peninsular and central India is expected to receive ‘above’ normal rainfall, northwest India could receive regular rainfall while east and northeast India is predicted to obtain under regular rainfall at some point of the June – September period.
